Meant to add that the bill seems somewhat pale for either species to me. I've only seen a couple Manx close enough to determine bill color, and it seemed basically black. I know Black-vented are notoriously variable in many respects (do paler birds have paler bills?), but perhaps the pale bill is also an indication of genetic irregularity?
