These lists are intended to prepare you for participation on class field trips. The archived lists are organized by page number in the National Geographic Field Guide. Please study them thoroughly and look up each species in the field guide before attending each trip. Many students find that visiting these sites beforehand provides valuable preparation and makes the trips themselves more rewarding. If you are unable to attend one or more trips, you are still expected to know these birds. If necessary, please visit these areas on your own to try to find as many species as possible. The dates of archived past trips are listed at the top. The lists are cumulative so it is unlikely we will see all the birds in one trip. Some extreme rarities from the past are on the lists, but are unlikely to be seen again. It is also possible that we may see unexpected species which are not on these lists.
Species in brackets indicate birds that are not acceptable as valid wild species.
