Robotanker!

Background:  The California Department of Forestry (CDF) must fight an increasing number of forest fires each summer.  One of their main tools is the Air Tanker that typically drops a chemical retardant or water on the fire’s leading edge.  However, it is a dangerous job.  A quick change in the wind direction can blind a pilot and the plane could crash.  The planes themselves are quite old and a number of them have broken up in mid-flight.  Suffice it to say, the insurance costs have rocketed skyward.

Your engineering firm wishes to retrofit fire-fighting aircraft with an autonomous flying system that can operate in hazardous remote locations.  You have been tasked to model such a system.  Release of the retardant is the critical design feature and you will have to demonstrate it to Mr. Big, your boss.
