Extra Activities

If you finish the work for the day, here are some activities you can try.  I will add different activities during the semester.
Story
Choose your own ending.  In the Ghost in the Museum, you have to choose what happens by clicking at the bottom of the page.  Your story will be different if you make a different choice.

These crossword puzzles practice different vocabulary.  Click on the link to a puzzle.  Click in the box where you want to answer.  One click will highlight the word that goes with the number.  The first box will be yellow and the rest of the boxes will be gray.  If you have a choice of across or down, a second click will highlight the one that goes in the other direction.  Type in the correct spelling of the word.  Click on checkto see if your answer is right.  If your answer is wrong, the wrong letters will disappear.  If you need help, click on Help me!!and you will see the correct word.

Scrambled Words
In this puzzle, the letters are mixed up.  You have to move the letters around to make the word.  You move the letters by clicking on them and keeping your finger down, then moving the letter to the center circle and lifting your finger.  If you don't have any idea what the word is, click on Give me a hint.  If you want to try another word, click on Next Puzzle.  Every time you do this puzzle, it chooses a new word.

You have to click on the verb form that belongs in the sentence.  You will have 30 seconds to choose as many correct forms as you can.   The test begins as soon as the page loads.  If you get too nervous on timed tests, don't take this one.

Story of the Week
These are current events that are written for students.   Although it seems they aren't adding a new story every week any more, there are still a lot of stories on the site.   You can read the story, the abridged story (the shorter version) or an outline of the story.  You can read stories from past weeks by clicking on the Story Archives at the left side of the page.   After you read the story, you can take different kinds of quizzes at the left side of the page.  You can also look up words you don't understand by using the search.
