* GO! with Microsoft Windows 10 Getting Started and

2) Custom CCSF Software License: MyLab Student Access Kit (with e-Book of GO! Microsoft Office 365, 2019 Edition), Pearson

Note:

1. MyLab is an online training simulation program for learning Microsoft Office 2019. You must purchase the above license to access the site to do homework.

2. Students need to obtain the textbook and MyLab within the first week of class. Students who wait 2 or 3 weeks to obtain the textbook and software license or do not obtain them at all have an extremely difficult time completing this course successfully.

Required Materials

Access to a reliable Microsoft PC(Not an Apple mac. This class is for learning about PCs) that meets minimum system requirements to run Canvas as well as MyLab.  MyLab is an online training and testing website, you must purchase the above license to use the site.  It is a Microsoft Office 2019 simulation program.

Required: Microsoft Office 2019 - all CCSF students have access to a free version of Office 365,2019 Edition so there is no need to purchase it. Microsoft Office 2019 is also available for use on hundreds of computers on campus.

Computer
Access

To take an online class you need dependable access to a computer with Internet connection that meets the minimum system requirements for both Canvas and Mylab. Canvas as well as MyLab can be used with either a PC or Mac. Mac students have found that some of the MyLab simulation assignments are a bit more challenging on a Mac and have opted instead to complete them on a PC, although this is not necessary to successfully complete the assignments. Mylab only works well with Firefox or Chrome. It has problem with Microsoft Internet Explore ( Microsoft Edge).

When completing the Grader assignments in MyLab, you will need access to Micorosft Office 2019. The older Mac version of Microsoft Office is not compatible.

If at any time the computer you usually use breaks down, it is your responsibility to have a backup plan - do not wait until the last minute to take your test or turn in your homework.  Exam and assignment deadlines will not be extended due to individual computer or Internet connection problems.

Drop Policy Instructor will drop students who do not attend class or do the homework assignments for two weeks.  Before dropping I will email the student with a reminder to log in, but if the student doesn't reply or log in they will be dropped. READ YOUR SCHOOL EMAILS!

Students must log in and participate in forums, and also take quizzes, turn in assignments and otherwise do all required coursework.  Not completing any homework tasks for two weeks is grounds for being dropped, and the drop date will be the last time a homework/quiz assignment was completed.  You also may drop the class yourself, until the last day drop is available.  (Check the final drop date for the semester listed in the CCSF calendars.) NOTE: If you must be absent but do not want to be dropped, email the instructor with your reason for late homework.
Class Participation Every week you must:
  • read the week's homepage
  • read all messages in the Forums, especially Instructor Weekly Announcement
  • check your Canvas and school email
  • Read the tasks for the week and complete them by the due date

You should also frequently respond to or create forum postings. Your participation will be a factor in your final grade.  You are required to post at least once a week on the forums.  Graded forums don't count towards this minimum.

Weekly Assignments Every week there is an assignment due. Keep track of these assignments on the Schedule or the week's task list.  Each Assignment will have a specific deadline you must meet. If you have to turn in a document, you will receive a grade within one week after the due date.

Some homework assignments will be submitted via an upload assignment, or by doing training/tests/projects in MyLab online site, or by doing the chapter quizzes based on the Technology in Action textbook.
Late Homework Homework will be accepted up to one week late, but with a 10% reduction in points (unless excused), and instructor must be notified via Canvas email after the late assignment is uploaded. I will allow only two late homework assignments from each student.  Talk to me if you are having a problem with the schedule!  There is usually a 2 day grace period; homework due on Friday is acceptable if turned in by Sunday night.
Midterm and Final Exams The midterm and final exams are timed.  You must take the test during the stated dates.  Check the schedule for dates that tests are available, and then visit the Quizzes area of Canvas to take the test.  The test results will be available to you immediately.  The midterm and final exam may not be taken late.
Accessibility Students who need academic accommodations should request them from the Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) located in the Rosenberg Library, Room 323 on the Ocean Campus. Telephone: 415-452-5481 (V) 415-452-5451 (TDD). DSPS is the campus office responsible for verifying disability-related need for academic accommodations, assessing that need, and for planning accommodations in cooperation with students and instructors as needed and consistent with course requirements.
