  1. What are the six "basic" nutrients?
    Define the term "essential" as it is used in nutrition.
  2. What does "RDA" mean?
    • Is it beneficial to eat more than the RDA of vitamins and minerals?

    • which are water soluble?
    • Why is this difference important?

  3. What is the calorie distribution of the typical American diet?
    How should this distribution be improved?
