Project One
Sign up for Email

Before you begin:

There is an image of a Yahoo In-box here.

1.  Go to the Yahoo Mail site to get an email account.

2.  Choose a name for your email account. This is your id. For example, my Yahoo id is venccsf

Your user id needs to be the only onein Yahoo. Try using the beginning of your first name and then add ccsf or alem
3.  Choose a password for your email account. Write down your password. You need to spell the password the same way every time. Type carefully! You do not see letters for your password. You see dots, so it is difficult to know when you make a mistake.

4.  You will answer some questions and tell some information about yourself, such as your birthdate and place of birth. This information should be correct. You also answer some questions about what you like to do.

5.  Yahoo will ask you if you will follow all their rules. Click on the I accept button.

Trust me, We are just agreeing to be fair and honest!

6.  After you register for an email account, Yahoo will open up your in-box. You will a see a welcome  message and one message in your in-box.

You can read and then close this message.

7.  Click on compose. Send me an email message.  My email address is venccsf@yahoo.com

Tell me three things in your message:

  1. What are you enjoying about learning English with computers?
  2. What is difficult or frustrating for you?
  3. Tell me how you are doing with your classwork.
8. Click on send when you finish a message. Watch the screen for a message that your message was sent.

9. Be sure to sign out when you finish with Yahoo. If you don't the next person at your computer will be able to read your email. (Oh no!)

10. Sign in to your email next timeby beginning at Yahoo's main page. Look for My Email and click to get into your email account.

This is a email link for Yahoo.

You will sign in with your Yahoo id and password. You don't need to register again! Next time you sign in you will see a message from me, and soon you will have messages from each other.

Take it slow and easy.
Don't worry if you lose an email message while you are learning.
This happens to many of us! You will feel more and more comfortable as we practice.
