Fashion Merchandising 45A Image Consulting

Fashion 45A prepares students to become Image Consultants working independently or for a retailer. It incorporates the techniques of color and wardrobe selection, figure analysis, and setting up a business. Experts in the field are invited as guest speakers; group and hands-on projects, field trips,and live demonstrations are also included. Class project concludes with group makeover project.

Evaluation Policies:
1. Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. You must be present and answer rollcall on the first day of class or you will be dropped from this course. You are expected to attend absolutely all class meetings. If you have extenuating circumstances and you cannot make it to a class, be aware that you are still responsible for all information given in class, whether or not you are present.
Regular attendance, which means arriving on time and staying until class is over, is both expected and appreciated. A high level of student participation is required in this hands-on class especially as it relates to group projects. You may miss two class meetings without affecting your grade. However, if you miss more than four classes you will be dropped from the course. If you can’t attend class for more than 1-week, contact the instructor. Do not attend class if you are ill.
If you miss a class, please do not call or email me. Since you need to know what you missed you should obtain the contact information of at least two-three of your classmates so that you can get the information that you missed. Again, please do not ask me.
2. Online Learning Component: You will also need to access an online version of this class via the Insight server Insight@ccsf.edu. You will be required to participate in 4 forums, download any, supplemental handouts, read websites pertaining to class material, view weekly assignments and due dates. In order to successfully complete this course you must complete your online forums on time. Your login to this site is your CCSF Student ID (the w is lowercase and x is used in place of @ - do not to use the letter “O”). Your password is (changeme ) or if you had an account last semester it is the same.
Download and read the Student Quick Start Guide for getting started on Insight. It will instruct on logging in, setting your password and much more.
Netiquette Rules: Online etiquette is important to keep in mind when communicating with others on the internet. Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life, respect others and share your knowledge.
3. Extra Credit Assignment: You may earn up to 5 extra credit points through a special assignment given by instructor if your grade is in jeopardy and need a few points.
4. Assignments/Projects: Readings will be assigned on an almost daily basis and you will be expected to complete them and be ready to discuss in class. This course is based on a linear method where the lessons build upon one another. All projects must be turned in on the assigned day; late projects will be deducted anywhere from 2-5 points for each late day and depending on how much the project is worth. All assignments must be neatly typed and placed in the proper portfolio (if required) or on a disc. A three ring binder is required for handouts. Each class will help you to develop skills that will be mandatory for the final project.
Grading: also includes your attendance/class participation and project completion.
