In spite of 40+ years of birding in California, I always consider myself a beginner when it comes to these i.d. quizzes (unless it's a duck!). That said, it took me only a few seconds to conclude this was a Hutton's Vireo, for all the same reasons as others have posted. The only thing that bothered me was all the streaking on the underparts, which I don't associate with any vireo. The only reference I have with me as I write this is NG 3rd ed., which to my surprise does show streaking in the Solitary Vireo complex, something I've never noticed. However, I still believe the quiz bird to be a Hutton's. Could the streaking be age-related, or have I just missed that, too?
Cheers,
