COURSE DESCRIPTION: All aspects of basic hat making, including sewn hats, straw hats, felt hats. Application of trims and embellishments included.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• Operate industrial and home sewing machines while following appropriate safety precautions

• Construct projects that increase and improve sewing skills

• Identify and review various fashion hats and materials through study of actual hats as well as various media

• Use commercial patterns as a base to begin designing and personalizing work

• Discussion of felt making techniques

• Practice shaping and molding using various techniques and various
  fabrics

• Discussion and practice of making and applying trims and embellishments
