After graduating from MIT in 1986, I came to UC Berkeley to earn my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and haven't left the Bay Area since. I've been teaching at CCSF since 1994, and my fantastic (and hard working!) wife has blessed us with a terrific 3.7 year old son and a charming 1.7 year old daughter! I am teaching half time during the Fall 2009 semester; I am teaching a 32 Lab as well as 208B Lecture and Lab.
These are the courses I have recently been teaching: Chem 32 lab, Chem 32 lecture, Chem 101A lab, Chem 110 online, Chem 208A lecture, Chem 208A lab, Chem 208B lecture, and Chem 208B lab. I have also taught Chem 17, Chem 40 (lecture and lab), and Chem 212A and 212B (lecture and lab for both).
When I have free time (which is never these days), I love to climb hills on my TItus mountain bike (the bigger the hill, the better. Singletrack is the desired option: there are a few trails on Mt. Davidson - right next to CCSF - and even more on Mt Sutro behind UCSF! Although the best riding is out of town...), or go to Cal basketball games, or whip up a batch of homebrew, or catch a rock show at a local club.
