    Conditions and Expectations

    Due to the nature of the course some touching and physical contact may occur. If you feel uncomfortable about this, discuss it with the instructor.

    Enrollment in the class is the student's responsibility. The student must notify the registrar of any and all changes of enrollment.

    Participants are expected to arrive at the beginning of lecture/lab and stay until excused; admission is Granted before lecture and after breaks, to prevent disruption, wait for a break before entering. The college and department require attendance at all classes; grades are based upon participation! A participant who exceeds the maximum number of absences may be dropped from the Class. Late enrollment is not permitted.

    Participants are expected to arrive for class prepared! Pre-lecture preparation include reading over (not answer) the current Review Questions (RQs,)the goals and objective stated in the text at the beginning of each chapter. You should flip through the chapter looking at the boldfaced words, examining the figures, reading the figure captions and end of chapter questions. This should only take 5 - 10 minutes: it is essential to be prepared for the lecture; jot down questions for lecture coverage. Do not! try to read the chapter and complete questions ahead of class: wait until after the class to complete these tasks.

    You should read and understand and print out the laboratory assignments before class. There is not enough time to both read and comprehend the laboratory manual/material and complete the lab assignments during lab!

    The classroom comes with a good supply of models. You are responsible for learning and knowing the models and material associated with the lecture topic. You need to identify the features of lecture diagrams on the models! We have a good collection of microscope slides; you need to learn and know the microscopic anatomy of the materials associated with the lecture topics. You will be tested on this material during the lab practical! You should make use of the time before and after class, lecture, and lab, to review and learn these materials. You should correlate the review diagrams, worksheets, vocabulary and study questions with the available models and slides.

    Any questions you may have about the lab should be expressed during/after the lecture and before the lab.

    You may either speak to me individually or raise question during the brief introduction before the lab. Because the labs are graded, it is not fair for me to provide only one person with the correct answers to the laboratory exercises.

    This is a college class. It is expected that you will need to devote 2 - 3 hours outside of class for every hour in class, FOR AN AVERAGE GRADE. For a better grade, it is expected that you need to devote more time. It is highly recommended that you take no other courses concurrently.

    OWN COPY OF EACH ASSIGNMENT. YOU SHOULD INCLUDE THE NAMES OF YOUR PARTNERS UNDER YOUR NAME AT THE TOP OF THE PAPER;
    ONLY THE TOP NAME WILL BE CREDITED FOR EACH AND ANY PAPER TURNED IN. ANY PAPER THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN A HANDWRITTEN SCORE IN YOUR NOTEBOOK HAS NOT BEEN CREDITED TO YOUR POINT COUNT!(This procedure is required to ensure that you have the graded assignment in your notebook, as per notebook protocol.) LABEL AND COLOR ALL DIAGRAMS BEFORE SUBMISSION - ALL PAPERS/EXERCISES ARE ONLY EVALUATED ONCE. The last chance to turn in assignments or other work is the second before last class meeting. All work will be returned by the meeting before the final. To obtain a final you must turn-in your up-to-date notebook with tally sheet and table of contents. You are not eligible to obtain a copy of the final until you have completed this requirement.

  • Review Questions

    Review questions are study questions designed to help you learn the material and prepare for exams. Students completing the review questions before the exams do significantly better!!! Since these are designed to help you do bettter, you may delay turning in RQs due the class before the exam until after the exam. Earlier review questions should be turned in as required, one week after the coverage of the material in lecture, as these will be returned to you at least the class before the exam. Make sure to retrieve your work from the out box on the front desk in the lab.

    Up to five topic related Anatomy coloring book pages/plates, extra credit coloring, may be turned in per review question assignment (not diagram/worksheets); the plates must be attached to the Review Questions (Available on line). Loose assignments are not acceptable. Only one assignment should be stapled together. Separate assignments should not be attached together. Place your name on all pages turned in! To receive full credit, the review questions and EC coloring must be turned in within one week of the coverage of the material in lecture. All review questions must be satisfactorily answered to receive full credit, half credit to no credit will be given for incomplete assignments. Only two EC plates are counted for partial review question scores. Late assignments are only worth one-half credit.
